Description:

National Archives is the custodian of Australian government records. In addition to a large physical collection, National Archives has a digital collection approaching 10 petabytes (PB) of data, comprising a wide range of digital file formats, including:

  • Digital images, that are scanned from original hardcopy records;
  • Multimedia files, that are digitally generated from original analogue multimedia;
  • Digital records that were born digital and are provided to National Archives by Australian government agencies.

National Archives seeks to address toolset gaps by exploring and testing emerging technologies that could assist National Archives to deliver services, conduct operations and enhance work tasks for specific scenarios. As our digital collection is expected to expand considerably over the next few years both through increasing digital transfers and digitisation of the physical collection, National Archives seeks solutions that are scalable, reliable, and secure. For the purposes of demonstrating the proposed solution(s), respondents will be invited to demonstrate using a sample set of publicly-accessible records National Archives will provide.
